R.I.P. Gene Colan

The man responsible for all of those incredibly cool Tomb of Dracula comics has passed away. Sad news, indeed:

That's sad. Some of Tomb of Dracula stories had great atmosphere. A shame there is no horror series like this, either on TV or in comic books, with recurring characters. Or am I wrong?

There are certainly horror comics with recurring characters (The Walking Dead springs to mind), but nothing with the style of Tomb of Dracula. I loved how that series managed to be set in the Marvel Universe, yet also seemed to perfectly follow Stoker's novel. Colan's art was incredibly atmospheric, and there is no doubt he was a huge part of the books appeal.
