I was very sad to hear the news of Wes Craven's passing last night. A true master of the genre has been lost

A Nightmare on Elm Street will always be a reference, I think. Amazing villain too, messed up by lousy sequels (as they often are sadly). I enjoyed his first Scream movie too, as a bloody parody of the slasher genre. I don't know much of his work otherwise.
